Washing is a woman's job. Really??

I wasn't sure whether or not to include this post, but when I saw the headline I just had to. At first thought, you would think the above washing instructions on the label of Indonesian sports wear manufacturer Salvo Sports shirts is a joke, but instead they were very serious. Can you believe it, at this day and age? And they even wrote IT'S HER JOB in bold letters. It's not even funny, it's just an insult to all women! It just goes to show that equality between men and women is still not a given in some parts of the world.
The instructions were printed on the shirts of Indonesian Super League team Pusamania Borneo. Twitter user Viola discovered the instructions and tweeted it on her page and soon after it went viral on social media. Salvo Sports received a lot of criticism for this sexist label and soon after they apologised on their Twitter page. Their apology translates to "The message is simply, instead of washing it in the wrong way, you might as well give it to a lady because they are more capable." Which makes me think, why not just write that instead of the unnecessary sexist remark?
Apparently this happened on International Women's Day - what a nice touch!
